My Story About Diabetes and Chocolate

In 2001, I was laid off an engineering job after 25 years of service. Shortly after that, I was diagnosed with type II diabetes. With no work in the engineering field for an aging engineer with two teenage kids, I took a job selling door-to-door newspaper subscriptions. The job involved a lot of walking, and it damaged the cartilage in my right knee.

In February 2008, my doctor wanted to put me on insulin. My type II diabetes was progressing. I begged him to let me have three more months to straighten out my diet and stay off insulin. He reluctantly agreed, but made it clear that it would not matter…that I would not be able to get my glucose readings in check. (more…)

Criss Cross – Lie on your back with your hands behind your lifted head and draw your knees into your body. Extend your right leg out long and inhale as you twist your upper body aiming your right elbow to your left knee. Actively lift from below your shoulder and twist from your waist to reach the knee and hold the position as you exhale completely. Switch sides as you inhale bringing now your left elbow to your right knee while extending the left leg out in front of you. Keep from rocking your body side to side and extend your elbows wide.
